Mummy post experiment

Here's the mummy post:

We both had interviews on Friday. Mine in Concord, NC at a smaller community-based program and his in Morgantown, WV. I must admit as a Florida girl to wake up to frost on my windshield was mildly terrifying. I couldn't complain much as he had snow on the ground when he stepped off his plane. We met back up Friday evening and spent Saturday exploring the city of Charlotte a little.

Peruvian mummy in seated burial position

We visited the Discovery Place Museum in Charlotte. There was a travelling Mummies of the World Exhibit that we had the chance to tour. It was amazing! My favorite mummy was a Peruvian woman that was found with a child under her head and one placed on her chest. It was a really griping pose they were found in and one really couldn't help but wonder the story behind their lives. Another mummy pictured here was from Peru found in a seated posture that is culturally how they posture their deceased for burial.
Here's a caption

She was very griping with her long hair all intact down to small braids. I think the intrigue is even more when you imagine how these people lived thousands of years ago. I know I have always found mummies fascinating. They are true "living fossils." It was also amazing to see the implementation of the 3D CT scanning technology that they were able to analyze without disturbing the integrity of the wrappings and mummification process. All in all, if you get a chance to see the exhibit, I highly recommend it!
